Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient therapy with profound healing effects that remain true to this day. Patients feel at ease with the overall sense of well-being a treatment can promote. It works on the nervous system which provides an immense relaxation response to promote wellness. Acupuncture also works on the immune, cardiovascular, digestive, and endocrine systems. By stimulating the various systems within the body, acupuncture can help alleviate pain, decrease stress, improve sleep, and boost mood.

BENEFITS OF COMBINING NATUROPATHIC MEDICINE AND ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture involves inserting fine needles into specific points or meridians along the body. Points are determined by the Acupuncturist by performing a tongue and pulse diagnosis. This diagnosis allows the assessment of the whole person as opposed to just the symptoms. The needles are about the diameter of a human hair which makes insertion of a needle essentially painless without discomfort. Pre-sterilized disposable needles are always used.

An acupuncture treatment can go beyond the use of needles. Acupressure, cupping, gua sha, e-stimulation, moxibustion, and infrared therapy are other modalities that may be indicated for care as well. Acupuncture, as a whole, works on the meridians by restoring proper qi or vitality for a person. The flow of energy can be re-directed or un-blocked which promotes an internal environment for healing from within.

BENEFITS OF COMBINING NATUROPATHIC MEDICINE AND ACUPUNCTURE

When western and eastern medicine are combined naturally, wonderful observations from a clinical point of view are possible for one’s healing journey. They complement each other by helping with the maximum benefit of both worlds. Oftentimes, stress management can be the root cause to imbalance and symptoms a person may be experiencing. Acupuncture sessions create that time for the nervous system to decompress. That feeling of zen may last a few days up until the next visit.

A patient’s perspective about their own healing can be supported with hopeful and positive thoughts by implementing an acupuncture treatment. Completing a tongue and pulse diagnosis during an acupuncture treatment, gives insight as to inner happenings in the body that otherwise would not be possible to gauge. This may include stagnation, heat, cold, excess or deficiency. These assessments can lead to recommendations that can be added to the Naturopathic Health Plan for optimal wellness results.
