Get the new year started by investing in yourself. Did you know that feeling supported by people you trust and love fosters good health? Some of us are lucky by having genuinely good relationships with family members that live close by that foster growth both emotionally and physically. Others have “chosen family,” aka friends that have been there through thick and thin. There are also many who may feel physically isolated from their support system after a move or emotionally distant because of strained relationships. Grief and loss can leave us feeling abandoned. Isolation can negatively impact one’s health. There’s hope because there is help.
Finding a Support Sytem
You want to turn isolation into connection. If you think that you are all alone in this world, take a moment to realize that mindset may be holding you back from personal growth and may even manifest illness or disease. The feeling of loneliness can morph into other low vibration feelings. Consider changing that framework of thinking for the sake of your overall health. Understanding that whatever has happened to you, has happened FOR YOU. That perspective can help.
As a Naturopathic Doctor, talk therapy is part of what we do. It was included in our medical school education, and it is often the foundation of what may be bothering patients. Unresolved conflict with loved ones can settle deep into your tissues. We are emotional beings deeply affected by energy. Low vibrational thoughts such as despair, grief, fear, depression, insecurity, guilt, or unworthiness are often major players when it comes to feeling isolation.

I use the Emotional Guidance Scale as a tool to help my patients. It’s helpful to identify how you are feeling. I am specific with how I use the Emotional Guidance Scale with patients. As an overview, you want to try to attain higher vibrational feelings as often as possible. These include joy, appreciation, love, empowerment, happiness, or enthusiasm. Maybe just feeling hopeful or content is as good as it gets for you and that’s OK. There are techniques to help you climb the scale towards higher vibrational feelings. That is true healing at the cellular level. Feeling connected is just as vital as eating well, exercising, or taking proper supplements.
If others have left you feeling unwanted, I promise you that there is a world of people and things to do that need your presence. “One door closes, another door opens” is the mentality to get you feeling motivated to connect again. If social settings are not your thing, there are online groups. Pets can provide a sense of belonging and comfort. Pets have souls that need us just as much as we need them.
